Just A Minute
The participants can participate only individually.
All the participants have to participate in the preliminary round.
Based on the performance and scores, selected speakers will advance to the semi-finals and then the finals.
Rules:
For the preliminary round, the participants will be divided in panels, each panel consisting of 8 participants.
One participant starts speaking as the JAM Master announces the topic.
The speaker has to speak for one minute without any errors/objections (mentioned below)
Other participants are free to object as per the announced objections.
If the objection is valid, the objector gets to speak for the remaining duration of one minute following the same rules.
Other speakers can object to the speaker and this continues till the end of one minute.
The decision of the JAM Master is final. No questions and arguments will be entertained once the decision has been made.
Objections:
Speech Defect: Hesitations, stutters, pauses, stop, incoherent speech, change of pace.
Deviation: Deviating from the topic. The participants have to speak on the topic not about the topic
Repetition: The repetition of words, phrases and ideas is not allowed.
Grammatical errors
Violation of queen’s English: Use of contractions, slangs, double negatives and abbreviations is not allowed.
Qualification error: Use of pronouns without mentioning who they refer to.
Note: The qualification of defects as objections is the decision of the JAM master.
